What’s up!
My name is Rowan Anzu Hunt, and I am a 21 year old artist from San Francisco, California. Studio Anzu began when I was in highschool and making ceramics from my parents garage, but has now become the virtual space where I present my artwork. Nowadays, I am most passionate about oil painting and jewelry metalsmithing, but other mediums I have worked with include stone carving, ceramics, wire sculpture, relief print, and film photography. My artistic practice is a dedication to understand my interaction with new materials, which is often a humbling experience! Once I have a grasp on a medium, the images and forms I produce are meditations on my interests in natural science and American history. I am currently an undergraduate student at Tufts and the School of the Museum of Fine Art in Boston. I am in a dual degree program working towards a BFA in Studio Art and a BA in American Studies. One of my biggest artistic inspirations is Ruth Asawa, who I not only look up to as a San Franciscan and a Japanese American, but because her work demonstrates a dedication to her medium and produces proportional harmony. My hope is for my artwork to produce a similar balance, where I can translate a piece of myself through an intuitive relationship with my materials.
